Movandi, which develops components to boost ultrafast 5G cellular networks, was named the Startup of the Year at the AspenCore World Electronics Achievement Awards 2020.

The awards honor the best companies, products and people that are impacting today’s electronics industry.

Started by siblings Maryam and Reza Rofougaran, Movandi created some buzz last year after disclosing it’s working with Verizon.

Movandi provides Verizon with extenders to amplify the carrier’s 5G coverage in public spaces, homes and buildings. Millimeter-wave 5G can theoretically provide connectivity up to 100 times faster than 4G LTE.

Last year, Movandi made CNBC’s Disruptor 50, a list of the most innovative private companies.
