Two of Irvine’s high schools have received the highest honor bestowed by the state. Both Northwood and University high schools have been named 2021 California Distinguished Schools. The distinction is granted based on metrics such as test scores and school climate laid out in the California Schools Dashboard, according to the Irvine Unified School District.
“IUSD is proud of our students, staff and parents, who exemplify our mission to provide the highest quality educational experience we can envision,” says IUSD Board of Education President Paul Bokota.
This year’s honors add to the 75 Distinguished School/Gold Ribbon and 19 National Blue Ribbon awards IUSD has received since the founding of the program in 1986.
